Introduction:
I moved from Long Beach, California, in 1993 to attend the University of New Mexico. After attending three years I enlisted in the Air Force. While serving, I became interested in heating & cooling and decided to learn more about it. After discharge, I was referred to Anderson Air Corps as the “best HVAC shop in town.” This was 2001, and I was successful in obtaining a position in the service department as a preventive maintenance technician. I advanced to repair technician and received EPA and NATE certifications. Three years later I was transferred to the sales department to work with residential and light commercial customers needing new or replacement heating and cooling equipment.
Position / Title / Responsibilities:
As an estimator and problem solver, I work with people who call regarding problems they are experiencing heating and cooling in their home. In some cases, the customer knows the equipment is beyond its useful life and simply want a replacement. But sometimes the problem is deeper and involves the ducting system — so I always make a thorough inspection of existing conditions and run a load calculation to size the equipment right.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Meeting new and interesting people. Solving their problems and making new friends. You meet a great diversity of people in this business. I enjoy listening to their stories and helping to make their indoor living environment comfortable.
Mantra:
Work with people to solve the problem. Listen carefully and only then suggest a solution. It is a team effort so I never suggest a “fix” until going over all the information available, including the customer’s impressions.
